Committed to . . .
John 14:1-14

Series: Committed
Message: Affiliation
Preacher: Japhet De Oliveira

Refresh: Open with prayer. Read or listen to Psalm 65:1-4.

Read: John 14:1-14 (ESV). As you read, note 1-3 insights or questions.

Reflect: It is very likely that the majority of Christians who read this text in John, simply are filled with joy. I kept this “I Am” statement from Jesus for the final week in this series on being committed. As I embracing this metaphor is the most challenging for us today.
Appreciation John 15:1-17 (Vine) - appreciate that Jesus is the source of all goodness and we are to appreciate others because of that.
Accountability John 10:11-21 (Shepherd) - Jesus holds everyone accountable, there are many who we may not appreciate but they are with Jesus, as He is the ultimate Shepherd.
Adaptability John 10:1-10 (Door) change in your life, full adaptability only happens when you go through Jesus. On our own, it is impossible.
Adventure John 11:1-27 (Resurrection & Life) We are called to move beyond a life of regret to engage in the journey that Jesus is taking us and that is life.
Acceptance John 6:22-59 (Bread) Jesus has accepted you and wants to take you from here to there. That is different for everyone, and we need to see that in others.
Authenticity John 8:12-30 (Light) Jesus brings light to our darkness. He brings truth to our error. He is the source of all truth and an authentic walk is liberating to us.
Affiliation John 14:1-14 (Way, Truth, Life) Jesus is everything. No other religion. No other power. No other idea. No other source. Is worthy of our affiliation.

The thread that this series has been weaving is to bring affiliation to the front and center. If you are a follower of Jesus - let it be known. If you are unsure of Jesus, let this be the space to explore and discover.

Recalibrate:

  1. What alternatives to Jesus have required serious thought?

Respond: Pray for clarity.

Research: How many different Christian denominations exist today? When did this frenzy of new “tribes” start? Where is Adventism in that timeline?
